Summer Reading Challenge

All ages are invited to participate in CCPLD’s Summer Reading Challenge!
Everyone benefits from keeping their minds active over the summer, even babies and adults!
Choose your challenge by registering for CCPLD’s Summer Reading Challenge for your grade/age.
Register individually or as a family or group using one email address.
Use the grade the participant will be entering in the fall.
Babies – K (0 – Kindergarten)
Kids (1st-5th grade)
Teens (6th – 12th)
Adults (18+)
The program begins on May 17th!

Babies – Kindergarten
We will be using the point system this year.
Read 1 book to receive 2 points. Mark the books in Beanstack and/or color the crayons on the handout you can pick up in the Youth Services office.
When you have earned
- 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 points, you will receive a colorful bead.
- 60 points, you will receive a chance to win one of our prizes (Squishmallow and $25.00 gift card), a book, and a book bead. Entry will automatically be entered in Beanstack.
- Every 60 points after will earn you another chance to win one of our prizes (Squishmallow and $25.00 gift card) and a colorful bead.
- Drawing for prizes will take place on July 15th. Need not be present to win

- 60 points, you will receive a chance to win a $50.00 Amazon gift card, a book and Bluetooth speaker. Entry will automatically be entered in Beanstack.
- Every 60 points after will earn you another chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
- Drawing for prizes will take place on July 15th. Need not be present to win.
Prize for this category:
Your teen will earn a chance to win one $50.00 Amazon gift card for every 60 points earned on the Beanstack App.
Adults (18+)
Guidelines for Adult Summer Read 2025
- Use the booklet you can pick up at the front desk to record your reading and activities or use the Beanstack app from May 17th-July 14th.
- Earn 10 points to complete the program and win a CCPLD logoed picnic cooler bag.
- Return the log to Adult Services or the front desk if you are not using the Beanstack app to track your activities.
- You will automatically be entered into the grand prize drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card with each book read or activity badge earned so continue on with the activities after completion.
- Drawing for prizes will take place on July 15th (winner need not be present to win).
How to Earn Points
◊ Reading books and ebooks, or listening to audiobooks count as a Reading Badge and earn 2 points each.
◊ Activities are worth 1 point each and can be repeated. Online resources include but are not limited to: all our online resources, Auto Repair Source, Comics Plus, Consumer Reports, Libby, CreativeBug, Hoopla, Kanopy, Illinois Legal Aid Online, Medline Plus, NoveList Plus, and more.
◊ The Event Badge can be earned by attending Bingo, a cooking class, a craft class, Euchre, exercise class, Mahjong, etc. Attend one of our new events such as Munchies and More, Diamond Art Club, Dining with Dewey Book Club, Bunco, and more.
◊ The more you do the more chances to win.
Beanstack allows you to:
· Keep track of each family member’s reading logs, activities, and rewards on one account.
· Log reading from home or on the go using the Beanstack App.
· See recommended events at the library and register right from the site
· Read and write book reviews of the books you read!
Getting Started
- Sign up on our site at https://ccpld.beanstack.org
- Click on Register an Individual or Family
- Everyone is encouraged to participate– Parents/Guardians, start by registering yourself and filling out the required fields. You will be listed as the “Account Creator”.
- Please choose Adult as the Grade Level for those 18+.
- You’ll then be prompted to enter information for your spouse/other adults in your family and then children as Readers.
- Register for the Summer Reading Challenge.
Note: if you have children age 5 and under, they will also be eligible to participate in the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program (books read for the Summer Reading Challenge will also count for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten). - You’re now ready to log books, earn badges, and get chances for great prizes
Logging Reading
- Click the Log Reading and Activities button in the upper left corner of your screen. Choose Minutes or Books as the logging type depending on your challenge.
- The calendar defaults to the current day but can be changed if you wish to track specific days you/your family read.
- For logging Minutes: You can log reading time in minutes or hours. Ex: 3h, 20m. You can log for an individual reader or for everyone (if everyone you are logging for is using Minutes) –choose All Readers under “Select the Profile”.
For logging Books: You log the number of books read in one session by entering titles or the number of books. -
You have the option of entering the Title and Author and submitting Book Reviews from here as well.

Challenge Your Friends
With Beanstack’s Friends and Leaderboard option, you can share your reading logs with friends and compete to see who has done the most reading!
